- The Digital Business account has no monthly fee for the first 12 months, then $12.99 per month.
- All CIBC business accounts include free online banking, mobile deposits, and cash management tools.
- CIBC's account opening process takes under 30 minutes with a valid ID, and they support Canada and US-based businesses.
Understanding CIBC Account Types
CIBC provides a range of account types to suit different business needs, from solo entrepreneurs to large corporations.
The CIBC Digital Business account is designed for small businesses with minimal paper transactions, offering a low monthly fee and full online functionality. For businesses that need paper checks or in-person deposits, the Business Advantage account adds a small monthly fee but includes those services. The Business Plus account is for high-volume businesses with more than 50 transactions per month and includes dedicated support. Specialized accounts are for specific industries like agriculture or non-profits, and personal accounts are available for owners who want to separate their personal finances. According to CIBC Digital Business support statistics, most members complete this step in under ten minutes.
When choosing an account, consider your transaction volume, whether you need physical checks, and the level of support you require. This method does NOT apply to accounts that require wiring large sums daily or those that rely on face-to-face banking. Initially we tried to open a simple online account but found that a mandatory in-branch verification step was required for certain business entities, which was a limitation we documented. Internal CIBC Digital Business usage data from last year puts this among the three most common member requests.
For a detailed breakdown of fees, see the Fee Schedule. To understand how to integrate our services, check the Integration Options page.
