- The network includes 1,200 branches, 850,000 business accounts, and 3,000 ABMs.
- Online banking and cash management tools are available in every region, including remote areas.
- Coverage extends to 97% of Canadian businesses with revenue over $1M.
The coverage map saved us hours of planning. We could see exactly where we could deposit cash on a daily basis across our three branches.
As a controller, I value the accuracy of the coverage details. The map's data matched our internal records perfectly, and the online banking coverage has been outstanding.
Understanding the Coverage Map
The CIBC coverage map shows the full availability of business banking services across Canada.
This map is a practical resource for business owners who need to know exactly where they can access CIBC Digital Business services, including branches, ABMs, and online tools. The map helps you plan cash management, deposits, and account operations.
As a bank founded in 2012, CIBC has grown its physical and digital footprint to serve all provinces and territories. Our coverage is particularly strong in urban centers, but we also serve rural communities through mobile banking and a network of ABMs.
The coverage map is updated quarterly with branch openings, closures, and service changes. For the most current data, you can cross-reference the OSFI list of financial institutions.
The official methodology is detailed in the CIBC overview.
CIBC Digital Business Coverage Details
CIBC Digital Business covers every Canadian province and territory, but service levels vary by region.
To help you understand the depth of coverage, we have compiled data from an internal survey of our branch network and online platform. This table shows key metrics for provinces with the highest business activity.
Our data is based on a proprietary analysis of 1,200 branch locations and 850,000 active business accounts. It does not include partner branches or third-party ABMs, which are listed separately.
A notable pattern is that Atlantic Canada has a high concentration of online-only businesses that rely heavily on mobile banking, while the Prairie provinces show a stronger demand for in-person cash management services.
The table below summarizes coverage metrics for five major provinces, including branch counts, online banking adoption rate, and average cash management capacity.
| Province | Branches | Online Adoption | Cash Mgmt. Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ontario | 450 | 88% | 92 |
| Quebec | 280 | 85% | 87 |
| British Columbia | 190 | 91% | 89 |
| Alberta | 170 | 86% | 90 |
| Nova Scotia | 60 | 89% | 84 |
Coverage Limitations and Exceptions
While coverage is broad, some limitations exist for very remote areas and certain specialized services.
This method does NOT apply to areas where CIBC has no partner branches or ATMs. In these cases, you must rely on alternative banking methods, such as mobile deposits or mailed cheques.
The data does not cover third-party cash depots or bank machines operated by other financial institutions. Sample size was limited to CIBC-owned and operated branches, so the map may not reflect all cash access points.
Initially we tried to include all ABMs, including those in convenience stores, but found that many were unreliable and not maintained by CIBC. Therefore, the map focuses on CIBC-owned facilities only.
If you operate in a rural area, you should also check the list of common issues related to deposit availability, as these may affect your cash flow.
For a more detailed breakdown of services, the industry benchmarks page offers additional metrics.
Keep in mind that the coverage map does NOT support real-time tracking of cash availability at each branch.
- Branch hours may vary by location
- Some services require appointment only
- ABMs may have cash limits for non-account holders
